Frequently asked questions
What counts as a request?
Each successful call to the API uses requests from your monthly allowance, whether it comes from an API key or the Playground. example.analyze costs 1 request; example.slugify costs 1 request. Failed requests are not charged.
What happens when I hit my monthly limit?
Requests return a 429 monthly_quota_exceeded error until your allowance resets. On a paid plan that happens on your billing anniversary; on Free it resets on the 1st (UTC). Upgrading takes effect immediately.
Do I need a card for Free?
No. Sign up, create a key, and you have 100 requests a month for as long as you like. Paid plans are handled by Stripe when you're ready.
Can I cancel or change plans?
Yes. Billing is self-serve through the Stripe customer portal: upgrade, downgrade or cancel in a couple of clicks.
What are the rate limits?
Free: 10/minute, 1 at a time. Starter: 60/minute, 3 at a time. Pro: 300/minute, 6 at a time. Limits apply per account across all its keys, and 429 responses include a reset_at timestamp.
